After Brexit on 31 January 2020, the UK entered a time limited transition period until 31st of December 2020. As the transition period has ended, regulation is an autonomous matter for both the UK and the EU as 2 separate legal and regulatory systems.

💡 Food supplements are regulated in the UK under the Food Supplements (England) Regulations 2003 , and the equivalent regulations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as all other applicable food laws.

While the UK has kept many EU rules (Directive 2002/46/EC), it now has its own specific requirements in terms of formulation, labelling, registration and most importantly communication and claims.

It is the responsibility of the manufacturer, importer or retailer to ensure that they comply with all these specific regulations.
