ECHA has included Glutaral in its 11th recommendation of substances of very high concern that should be added to the list of prohibited substances, subject to authorisation for their continued use.
Glutaral has been recommended to be banned for its respiratory sensitising properties (article 57f-human health). Background :
Companies are not allowed to use substances that are included in the Authorisation list as of the date indicated therein, unless they have been granted an authorisation to do so. The European Commission together with EU Member States and the European Parliament decide on the inclusion of new substances into the Authorisation list based on ECHA’s recommendations.
